Anastasia Bourlakova was born in Moscow before perestroika. She spent her childhood in Africa where her parents were working on a construction project funded by the Soviet Union. She made her university studies in literature and history in Germany and France, before discovering the Quebec who became his adopted country. In 2002, she moved to Montreal where she studied film production at Concordia University and joins the group of independent filmmakers KINO.
