Synopsis
Paul, on a trip to Havana, is experiencing difficulty keeping a smile on his troubled face. He meets Agnela, a young local working girl, whose job it is to please with a practiced smile of her own. No matter, how close they get or how hard they try to soothe their broken souls, their attempts remains vain. They are too busy disconnecting themselves from hidden, unwanted emotions to achieve a true much needed human contact.

Annick Blanc graduated from Film Production at Concordia University in 2004. She now works in Montreal as a director and producer led by a love of visually intriguing and innovative storytelling. Her short film Nowhere Elsewhere (2010) was shown in more that 40 festivals and garnered 8 international prizes (Palm Spring International Film Festival, Festival de Flms de Femme de Créteil, Hong Kong International Film Festival…). She is currently writing North, her first feature script. Turn off before living is her second short film.
