Once upon a beast is a short drama movie of a 12 years old little girl living in a convent. More mature than the others kids, Laurence is taken in an authoritarian world that dictates how to live in society and refrains the intellectual liberty. In this universe where it is very hard to see the limits between the reality and the dreams, Laurence must learn to distinguish the material world from her free spirit.
Élisabeth Desbiens is a Montreal based Directress. She studied dance and cinema. Her movies have screened in many festivals around the world including SAPPORO in Japan, MashROME in Italy, Cannes’ short film market and Clermont-Ferrand. She received the prestigious prize SODEC/ SARTEC for her screenplay Était une bête, adapted from a poem anthology by the author Laurance Ouellet Tremblay. She is presently in a writing process for her next movie.
